EGOV 2007 marked the sixth edition of a prominent series of international conferences focused on electronic government research and practice. This year saw an impressive number of submissions, with quality surpassing that of previous years. For the third consecutive year, the conference included a doctoral colloquium featuring around 20 PhD projects. It served as a platform for academic work in progress, practitioner reports, and specialized workshops. Alongside the International Conference on Digital Government Research in the USA and the e-Government Track at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, EGOV has solidified its position as the leading annual conference on e-Government, e-Participation, and e-Governance in Europe, with a global influence. Recently, two professional societies were established in North America and Europe: the Digital Government Society of North America and the European EGOV Society. These organizations collaborate closely and share nearly identical mission statements, identifying themselves as multi-disciplinary groups of scholars and practitioners dedicated to advancing democratic digital government. This initiative aims to enhance public policies and government operations through the use of information and technology, promoting citizen engagement and providing timely government services.
