The publication of Thomas S. Kuhn's "Structure of Scientific Revolutions" in 1962 marked a pivotal moment in the history and philosophy of science, reshaping theoretical frameworks and sparking discussions that fostered the development of communities of historians and philosophers of science globally. Since then, various approaches to the history of science have emerged, often referencing Kuhn's work. In October 2012, a conference at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science convened historians whose contributions have significantly influenced the evolution of the field over the past 50 years. This volume compiles reflections from many of these historians, drawing on their presentations and discussions at the conference. Topics include personal experiences with Kuhn and comprehensive analyses of the historical progression of the discipline. The series, Proceedings of the Max Planck Research Library for the History and Development of Knowledge, documents scientific meetings on contemporary issues and promotes ongoing collaboration through an electronic platform. Ein sehr beruhigendes Gesamtwerk für die kleinen, sich in Not befindenden Menschen und seelisch Leidenden, das ihre zu tragende Last im Großen abnehmen will und das fast schon religiös anmutet.

This volume collects the earliest contributions to what is now known as quantum gravity research: the attempt to bring together quantum theory and the general theory of relativity. Covering the period from 1916-1950, it shows the beginnings of an unsolved problem that still remains as such today. The original sources are interspersed with historical essays, which together provide the first scholarly historical overview of quantum gravity in the first half of the twentieth Century. The combination of historical analysis and original sources make this a volume of interest to historians, philosophers, and physicists alike. - Edition Open Sources (EOS) pioneers a new paradigm in publishing, devoted to open access and high-quality peer review. This collaborative scholarly endeavor publishes academic editions of primary sources in the history of science in online, digital, and print formats. EOS publications present new editions of original sources with facsimile reproductions, in part also with translations, and with an introduction to the authors and the context in which they worked. The sources are typically historical books, manuscripts, documents or other material that is otherwise difficult to access. EOS a collaboration be-tween the University of Oklahoma Libraries, the Department for the History of Science of the University of Oklahoma and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.

Trotz vielfältiger Initiativen des Gesetzgebers hält die Kritik – insbesondere aus dem Ausland – an der deutschen Corporate Governance weiterhin an. Vergleichsweise gering ist nach wie vor die Berücksichtigung der Interessen von Aktionären und Kapitalmarktteilnehmern durch deutsche Unternehmen. Spektakuläre Unternehmenskrisen sind nach den Fällen von Enron und WorldCom in der jüngeren Vergangenheit auch diesseits des Atlantiks zu beobachten gewesen. Diese Entwicklungen werden zum Anlass genommen, die Forderungen des Kapitalmarkts an eine gute Corporate Governance zu identifizieren und mit den in Deutschland bestehenden/geplanten gesetzlichen und sonstigen Regelungen zu vergleichen. Ziel dieser Untersuchung ist die Erarbeitung konkreter Empfehlungen, wie die Corporate Governance der Unternehmen in Deutschland besser auf die Forderungen und Bedürfnisse der nationalen und internationalen Kapitalmarktteilnehmer abgestimmt werden kann. Mit den gewonnenen Erkenntnissen und konkreten Empfehlungen soll zur allgemeinen Verbesserung der Corporate Governance in deutschen Gesellschaften und damit zu einer stärkeren internationalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit dieser Unternehmen sowie einer größeren Zufriedenheit ihrer Aktionäre beigetragen werden.
