Jan Joansson (1931-1968) belongs to a very special category in Swedish music of the 1950's and 60's. In many respects his jazz piano playing was and remains unsurpassed. His musical curiosity made him a true pioneer, leadin hm to shape extraordinary bridges between various musical genres and domains. The Best known of these are his sensitive renditions of folk music from Sweden and the sorld, a music that brought him listeners and admirers in every quarter and a development cut short by his all too early death at the age of 37.
