The world is left reeling when Ransome Airways Flight 189 to New York inexplicably falls from the sky, crashing into the Bristol estuary. Of the 600 passengers on the plane, there are no survivors. A massive operation commences to recover the bodies and clues from the wreckage, under the watchful eye of the Ministry of Justice and other government agencies.
