Detective Lindsay Boxer and her friend Yuki Castellano are out shopping with Yuki's mother Keiko when Keiko drops in the middle of the busy street. It looks like she's had a stroke and Yuki starts to panic. She is rushed to the San Francisco Medical Center and admitted to the ICU. Over drinks that evening at Susie's, with her friends in the Women's Murder Club, Lindsay learns of a huge malpractice suit against the San Francisco Medical Center.
