India, 1948. Margaret Wood and Rodney Savage are reunited, a year on from their first meeting on Independence Day. Margaret is a missionary and a nurse who came to India with her husband. But he has died of a terrible fever, and that has left her, questioning her faith and devotion, to carry out the mission alone.
