Sean O'Reilly is caught smuggling Potcheen and is imprisoned in Crumlin road prison where he meets Paddy McCormick, a small time crook. On his release Sean returns to his pig farm, which is situated on a rented ex RAF airfield in Northern Ireland. The farm has been looked after by Sean's girl friend during his captivity. They marry and have three sons. The airfield is eventually acquired cheaply from the British government. Over the ensuing fifty years this property is built up into a prosperous business empire with the assistance of two friends, Bill Fraser who joins Sean as business advisor, and Bill's boss John Shepherd. They are both bankers. These 'friends' turn out to be not quite what they seem. Bill, as Sean's finance director together with John Shepherd, systematically defraud the company's pension funds of millions of pounds during these successful years. These crooks are found out when Sean's sons take over the running of the business. They expose the fraudulent activity. Meanwhile, the potcheen business in which Paddy McCormick is involved gathers 'great strength' with the discovery of a way to increase the alcohol content. Eventually the distillery is legally licenced thereby providing another fortune attracting the attention of the crooks. The O'Reilly family track down the fugitives and force retribution !
