Concierge Cassie Hall is sorting through her mail in the mail room at the luxurious Parkstone apartment building before her night-time shift begins. Suddenly she overhears the day-shift concierge Mason Day get into a heated argument with a resident at his desk in the lobby nearby, while Cassie continues to peruse her mail, but suspects something might be awry. When she leaves the mail room and heads to the concierge desk, Mason is nowhere in sight. That is, until Cassie peeks behind the desk into the cloakroom and spies Mason's body slumped on the floor among the overcoats. She quickly rushes over to check on him, but the young man is dead--a letter opener from his desk lodged firmly in his chest. Cassie quickly calls her boyfriend Eric, a local homicide detective, and the police take over the investigation. Of course, that's not enough for Cassie.
