En savoir plus sur le livre

"This book has two major aims. First, it seeks to compile a list of apparent violations of Torah law embedded in the accounts recorded in the books of Joshua, Judges, and Samuel. Violations that are recorded are all instances of flagrant disregard of the plain, literal sense of Torah law, where the perpertrator or narrator seems to be unaware of the fact that a violation has taken place. Such awareness requires explanation in the light of the biblical and rabbinic claims that the Torah was given publicly at Sinai ... All characters in these books should therefore be aware of Torah law ... Second, the book will present the various rabbinic resolutions suggested in the Talmud and Midrash to these instances of flagrant violation of Torah law. "Rabbinic resolutions," as defined here, refer to all rabbinic material prior to the Geonic period. These resolutions lie scattered throughout rabbinic literature, and this work seeks to collect, classify, and analyze them." -- Introduction
