David Williams is a children's author with Alfred A. Knopf, and an Emmy winning songwriter for his work with PBS KIDS. This is a story from when he was 10 years old, wanting to be a scientist, and coming up with various theories. On Thanksgiving day, with all the relatives around him, he leaves the table to go outside where he can look at the chickens in the pen, and he has a Eureka moment: he realizes in 1960 that birds are really dinosaurs! He sets out to prove it, to the best of his ability, and he writes his theory on a piece of paper and seals it in an envelope.
