I wrote each of these poems out of my love for Jesus Christ. As I came to know more about Him, I would sit down and start writing to Him because sometimes I could not verbally express myself to Him. So writing about God became one of my favorite pastimes. I loved knowing that God was a person and that I didn't have to look at Him as a distant Spirit in the distant blue yonder. He was as close to me as my own breath! To me that was very exciting and very helpful in time of need! I knew that God was always standing by to heed my every cry! I learned a lot about the love of God through my fellowship with Jesus Christ and through reading the Word of God. In my personal life I felt so unloved. I felt that no one cared for me. It was hard at times to grasp or understand the love of God since I never really had anyone to really express verbally their love for me. Through my experiences in life and just getting to know God it was hard for me to accept that God could say, "Willie I love you." As I write each poem, I use the names of God and Jesus interchangeably. I use their names as if I am speaking about the same person. In reality I was talking about the same person. For in the book of John Jesus tells his disciples that He and God were the same.
