This illustrated guide to the cemeteries in the Salient is a pictorial record; each cemetery has its history, photograph, location and number of burials, broken down into nationalities. There is also an Information heading which expands any points of particular interest, such as VCs buried there, and notes memorials both in the cemetery and nearby. Concentrations from cemeteries that were closed after the war when remains were transferred are also shown where applicable. The story of the Salient and the four battles of Ypres between 1914 and 1918 is also given in outline, with a detailed Orders of Battle of the BEF during each battle. Another interesting feature is the table listing every cemetery with the numbers of burials, by nationalities; this gives a total of 278,858. There is a list of all VCs buried in cemeteries or commemorated on memorials included in the book; and finally there is an index of units and battles as well as an index of people and places.
