For this kind of story is for an audience obsessed with religious wrong-doing, its hypocrisy and its secrets. If there is a moral, then it must be that the reader following the actions of our heroine understand why she is compelled to commit the same acts that have been perpetrated on her. Only after such deeds are done, when the meaning of compassion is fully understood, can our heroine change the course of her life and of those that she leads.
