After the suicide of her husband, Allen Stolz, Kathryne Kassell, a foreign language and music teacher, finds herself totally unprepared for a life as a single woman. She did not expect to become widowed at a fairly young age, and she feels both sad about and angry that Allen didn't ask her permission to kill himself.
