Politics and the Scottish Language collects for the first time Macdonald Daly's many essays on literature and culture (with politics never far away).As well as the title essay, which uniquely maps choices in the literary usage of Scottish accent and dialect onto demonstrable political perspectives, it encompasses discussions of fiction by Elizabeth Gaskell, H.
