The Children of the Wars in El Salvador and Guatemala

From Cradle to Conflict: Child Soldiers Growing Role in Latin Americas Wars

En savoir plus sur le livre

The Salvadoran Civil War, lasting from 1979 to 1992, was marked by violence between the military-led government and the FMLN, a coalition of leftist groups. The conflict began with a coup and escalated into a brutal war characterized by human rights abuses, including the targeting of civilians and clergy by government death squads, and the use of child soldiers. Over 75,000 lives were lost, and many disappeared. The war concluded with the Chapultepec Peace Accords, but a 2016 ruling allowed for the prosecution of war criminals, challenging previous amnesty laws.
