Focusing on the textual history of the Hebrew Bible, this study examines the complexities surrounding the books of 1 and 2 Kings. It highlights the significance of Latin witnesses, particularly the fourth-century writings of Lucifer of Cagliari, who extensively quotes from Kings. By comparing Lucifer's quotations with existing Hebrew and Greek texts, Tuukka Kauhanen establishes Lucifer as a key textual witness and addresses several issues related to the earliest form of the text of the Books of Kings.
