Born in 1856, Haggard's journey began with a failed military career and a brief stint in the British Foreign Office before he ventured to Southern Africa. His experiences there inspired his fiction, leading to the success of "King Solomon's Mines" in 1886. Haggard's works often reflect on the exploitation of local populations during the colonial era while featuring memorable characters like Allan Quatermain. In his later years, he engaged in social reform and politics, leaving a legacy that critiques imperialism. Haggard passed away in 1925.
