Focusing on radial distribution feeder fault protection, this research addresses power outage mitigation at the Shashamene substation, which features a 132KV incoming line and multiple transformers. It highlights the importance of optimal relay coordination for overcurrent relays using Time Multiplier and Pickup Current Setting. To enhance response times for short circuit faults, the study proposes utilizing an artificial neural network (ANN) to resolve miscoordination issues among adjacent relays. The analysis involves a test system with 21 buses, 12 outgoing lines, and 18 overcurrent relays.
