The story follows Lee Gildoo, a member of Pyongyang's elite, as he evades both local and North Korean secret police in a desperate bid for freedom across China and Mongolia. After narrowly escaping arrest, he orchestrates his departure to make it appear as if he fell victim to gang violence. Meanwhile, the regime retaliates by imprisoning his wife and daughter in a political prison, highlighting the brutal consequences of defection and the oppressive nature of the Kim regime.
