Georg Moritz Ebers was a prominent German Egyptologist and novelist, renowned for discovering the Ebers Papyrus, a significant ancient medical text. His academic journey included studying jurisprudence and Oriental languages, leading to professorships in Egyptian language and antiquities at Jena and Leipzig. Ebers conducted two scientific expeditions to Egypt, contributing to his expertise in Egyptology. His influential work, Ägypten und die Bücher Moses, laid the groundwork for his later achievements, including the editing of the celebrated medical papyrus in 1874.
