Car sharing has evolved into a significant component of the movement towards sustainability, challenging traditional views of car ownership as a status symbol. Originating in 1997 with the merger of ATG AutoTeilet Genossenschaft and ShareCom into Swiss Mobility Genossenschaft, the concept aims to provide accessible vehicle use for everyone, particularly those unable to afford the expenses associated with owning a car.
