Georg Moritz Ebers was a notable German Egyptologist and novelist, renowned for his discovery of the Ebers Papyrus, a key ancient medical document. His academic journey included studying jurisprudence and Oriental languages, leading to professorships in Egyptian language and antiquities at Jena and Leipzig. Ebers undertook significant scientific expeditions to Egypt, contributing to the field with important works, including his 1867-1868 publication on Egypt and the Books of Moses, and the edited translation of the Ebers Papyrus in 1874.
