Focusing on the historical evolution of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, the book details its origins in the 12th century aimed at aiding leprosy victims and its subsequent military involvement against Islamic forces during the Crusades. After its expulsion from Acre, it relocated to France, where internal conflicts in the 15th and 16th centuries led to a division under different leaderships. Despite losing royal protection during the French Revolution, the Order maintained its philanthropic efforts, particularly in Haifa, and continues to operate as an International Organization today.
