Born into a wealthy family and educated at prestigious institutions, Algernon Charles Swinburne made a significant impact on literature with his verse dramas and notable works like "Atalanta in Calydon" and "Poems and Ballads." Known for his intense lyricism and complex rhythms, he became associated with controversial themes. Despite his literary success, his personal life was troubled, marked by excessive drinking and physical ailments. His later years were spent under the care of Theodore Watts-Dunton, who reformed his habits but limited his creative output. Swinburne passed away in 1909.
