En savoir plus sur le livre

This book employs a modified LMS algorithm for weight adaptation of dipole arrays to generate beam patterns in multiple signal environments. Efficient adaptive algorithms are crucial for phased arrays to create patterns that adapt to varying signal scenarios. The antenna array must provide sufficient gain towards desired sources while suppressing probing sources, enabling active cancellation of unwanted signals. The performance of the dipole phased array is evaluated based on fast convergence, output noise power, and signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio. The effects of mutual coupling and the role of edge elements are also considered. The findings demonstrate that the dipole array, paired with an effective algorithm, can achieve multilobe beamforming with precise and deep nulls directed at probing sources, which is relevant for active radar cross section (RCS) reduction. The book includes formulation, algorithm descriptions, and discussions on the active cancellation of hostile sources in phased antenna arrays. Numerous illustrations support the themes across different signal environments and array configurations. The concepts are presented in an accessible manner, making the content suitable for beginners in phased arrays and adaptive array processing.
