En savoir plus sur le livre

In 1880, two centuries after the Salem trials, Adelaide Thom has left her sideshow life to open a tea shop with Eleanor St. Clair, a former medical student and keeper of spells. They cater to Manhattan's elite, offering cures, palmistry, and potions while safeguarding their clients' secrets. Their routine is disrupted when Beatrice Dunn, a captivating young woman, seeks employment and quickly becomes Eleanor's apprentice. However, Beatrice's new life is shadowed by unsettling phenomena; she perceives things others cannot and hears voices, leading her to question her sanity. While Eleanor wishes to honor the magic within Beatrice, Adelaide sees a business opportunity. Partnering with Dr. Quinn Brody, an alienist, she subjects Beatrice to tests to determine her ability to communicate with spirits. As the witches grapple with their differing intentions for Beatrice, she mysteriously disappears, prompting a frantic search. Their quest is complicated by accusations and ghosts from their pasts. In an era when women faced confinement for voicing their thoughts, the stakes are high—are any of them truly safe?
