Gabriele D Annunzio was born in Italy and lived from 1863 to 1938. He published this novel Il Piacere (The Pleasure) in 1889. This is a romantic novel telling the story of the lives of the nobility. The main character is Count Andrea Sperelli who lives in Rome, and his two conquests Elena Nueti and Maria Ferres. Gabriele D Annunzio relates the intimate lives of himself and the nobility among the aristocracy of Rome in the 19th Century.
