Additionally, stories from a diverse array of authors, such as Ben Acker, Delilah S. Dawson, and Claudia Gray, offer a mix of humor, heartbreak, and astonishment. All authors have opted to forgo compensation, with proceeds benefiting First Book, a nonprofit providing essential educational resources to children in need. To further support this cause, Penguin Random House has donated $100,000, and Disney/Lucasfilm has contributed 100,000 children's books valued at $1,000,000. Over the past sixteen years, Disney and Penguin Random House have donated over eighty-eight million books to First Book.
