The story follows Pericles, the ruler of Tyre, who escapes his city upon uncovering a disturbing incestuous relationship between the ruler of Antioch and his daughter. During his travels, he marries Thaisa, who seemingly dies giving birth at sea. Their daughter, separated from her father, matures into a virtuous maiden in Mytilene, where she faces the threat of enslavement in a brothel. Pericles, determined to rescue her, embarks on a quest to save his daughter from danger and reunite their family.
