Welcome to the proceedings of CCIW 2009, the Computational Color Imaging Workshop, held in Saint-Etienne, France, on March 26–27, 2009. This second CCIW was organized by the University Jean Monnet and the Laboratoire Hubert Curien UMR 5516, with support from the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), the French Association for Pattern Recognition and Interpretation (AFRIF), and the Groupe Français de l'Imagerie Numérique Couleur (GFINC). The inaugural CCIW took place in 2007 in Modena, Italy, also endorsed by IAPR. This workshop coincided with the International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing (ICIAP), a biennial event focused on image processing and pattern recognition organized by the Group of Italian Researchers on Pattern Recognition (GIRPR). Our primary goal was to unite engineers and scientists from various imaging sectors worldwide to discuss their latest work, covering both theoretical advancements and practical applications in color imaging, processing, and analysis. The workshop targeted researchers and practitioners in digital imaging, multimedia, visual communications, computer vision, and the consumer electronics industry, all interested in the fundamentals of color image processing and its emerging applications.
