Hermann Gieselbusch, geb. 1937, war von 1968 bis 2001 Sachbuchlektor bei Rowohlt. Raymond A. Moody, geboren 1944 in Porterdale, Georgia, erwarb zunächst einen Doktortitel in Philosophie, bevor er Medizin studierte und Arzt wurde. Seit 1985 arbeitet Dr. Moody als Psychiater in seiner eigenen Praxis und ist Associate Professor of Psychology am West Georgia College in Carrollton.
