Social security has never been a matter of national interest only. But in the last years, international institutions like the World Bank or the EU have intensified their interest in social security matters, especially in the field of old-age pensions. This edition gives reference on activities of organisations like the Council of Europe, the World Bank and the EU on the reform of pension systems in Western and Eastern Europe.
