The contributions to this book focus on the significant split between analytic philosophy and phenomenology, a crucial divide in twentieth-century philosophy stemming from a radicalization of mutual preferences. Both schools share a common cultural background and an initial influence from Franz Brentano. This rift has led to Brentano's ideas being largely overlooked. To address this divide, the first step is to revisit Brentano and reconstruct the framework of his philosophy. The book aims to rekindle interest in the theoretical richness of Brentano's thought and that of his students, emphasizing aspects often neglected in later discussions within Brentanian-inspired movements. It is organized into two introductory essays followed by two sections that systematically explore Brentano's philosophy and the contributions of his followers. The introductory essays discuss the reasons for Brentano's philosophical 'invisibility' and outline his doctrine. Part 1 examines six of Brentano's most notable students—Marty, Stumpf, Meinong, Ehrenfels, Husserl, and Twardowski—while Part 2 features nine essays that delve into key topics addressed by Brentanians.
