China Ethnic Statistical Yearbook 2016

En savoir plus sur le livre

This book presents original research on the socioeconomic conditions of China’s 56 ethnic groups. While the Han nationality comprises over 90% of the population, the non-Han ethnic groups exceed 100 million individuals. Officially, China recognizes 55 ethnic minorities, which vary significantly in size; the Zhuang, with over 15 million members, are the largest, while the Lhoba, with around three thousand, are the smallest. This ethnic diversity has shaped a unique socioeconomic landscape in China. However, a comprehensive socioeconomic overview of these groups, particularly the smaller minorities, has been lacking. The book seeks to address how these ethnic groups have experienced daily life and economic development during China's rapid transition. It offers a detailed and comparable dataset for each ethnic group, presenting a wide array of social and economic indicators in an accessible format. This resource profiles the general social and economic situations of all 56 ethnic groups, with indicators compiled and estimated from regional and local data sources up to 2012.
