En savoir plus sur le livre

Long before his presidency or leadership at the CIA, Jack Ryan was an historian and ex-Marine living in England while researching a book. His involvement with an IRA splinter group caught the attention of CIA Deputy Director Vice Admiral James Greer and British SIS's Sir Basil Charleston. Greer offered Ryan a freelance analyst position, which he eagerly accepted, thinking he could manage it alongside his research. However, he quickly became engrossed in his new role after being assigned to debrief a high-level Soviet defector. The defector revealed a shocking plot: top Soviet officials, including Yuri Andropov, were planning to assassinate Pope John Paul II. As Ryan delves deeper, he faces the daunting task of confirming the plot and preventing it. This new world of espionage is unlike anything he has encountered before, and he finds himself in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse between the Soviet Union and the United States. Ultimately, the stakes are not just the Pope's life but the stability of the Western world, and Ryan fears it may already be too late for him to intervene effectively.
