To address these challenges, innovative strategies for sustainable development that harmonize social and economic growth with environmental protection are essential. Electrokinetic transport processes (EK) utilize low-level direct current as a "cleaning agent" and have been effectively applied in the remediation of polluted soils and other contaminated materials. EK holds significant promise for diverse applications, including saline soil restoration, nutrient recovery from waste, and the repair of building structures. It represents an integrated strategy for sustainable development and waste management, attracting global interest. Furthermore, EK can be combined with phytoremediation and nanotechnology, broadening its application scope. This multidisciplinary approach to resource recovery, remediation, and conservation paves the way for innovative waste minimization techniques, enhancing the recovery of secondary resources for industrial, agricultural, or social purposes.
