The Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Linden underwent extensive renovation over seven years, transforming the city's oldest theatre into one of Europe's most modern venues. This complex project, led by Berlin-based architecture firm HG Merz, coincided with the opera company's performances at the Schiller Theater in Charlottenburg. On the opening day of the renovated Staatsoper, 3 October 2017, a two-volume book titled 'Staatsoper Berlin 2010-2017' was published. The first volume, 'Die Staatsoper im Schiller Theater', chronicles the opera company's activities from 2010 to 2017, during which it premiered over 100 new works, performed more than 550 concerts, and hosted around 2,500 events. The repertoire spanned from Baroque to contemporary pieces, showcasing the theatre as a "first-class temporary venue" that blended 1950s charm with modern spirit. The accompanying images and texts vividly capture this productive period. The second volume, 'Die Staatsoper Unter den Linden', details the renovation of the historically significant theatre, originally built in 1742 in the Prussian neoclassical style. This recent restoration is noted as the most extensive to date, emphasizing the building's cultural and historical importance.
