En savoir plus sur le livre

This publication accompanies the overview exhibition of French-Bosnian artist Maja Bajevic at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, focusing on her recent works. Since the mid-1990s, Bajevic has addressed issues of globalization, migration, inclusion and exclusion, exploitation, and neoliberalism, while also exploring her identity and the concept of "home." Her art is rooted in a tradition that confronts social and educational themes, aiming to challenge prevailing social consciousness. For instance, her compilation of political slogans encompasses a broad political spectrum. This publication combines the essence of Bajevic’s oeuvre with newly commissioned essays by art historians and curators, reflecting on her key artistic strategies and themes over the past decade. It is structured into three chapters: “Power,” “Governance,” and “Labor,” featuring contributions from Barbara Biedermann, Manuel Borja-Villel, Boris Buden, Raphael Gygax, and Ana Janevski. Living and working in Paris and Sarajevo, Bajevic has exhibited widely in Europe, with solo shows at notable institutions such as Daad Galerie in Berlin and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. She has also participated in significant group exhibitions, including the 56th Venice Biennale. This publication serves as a comprehensive reference on her work.
