The ancient scholia to Sophocles’ Oedipus at Colonus offer insights into Alexandrian interpretations of the play, surpassing those of other Sophoclean works. This edition restores the scholia to a textual state that is arguably the earliest recoverable version, eliminating contradictions, unacceptable repetitions, and hybrid elements from different versions.
