The story revolves around a young man of extraordinary beauty who, fearing the signs of aging, makes a pact that allows his portrait to bear the marks of time instead of his face. Indulging in a life of excess and pleasure, he ultimately faces the consequences of his actions. After killing the painter who confronts him about his moral decay, he stabs the portrait in a fit of despair, only to die himself.
