En savoir plus sur le livre
Each year, over six million people visit the Munich Oktoberfest, spending more than a billion euros. The festival boasts fascinating facts: an experienced bartender can fill a litre mug of beer in about 1.5 seconds, though it may not be full to the brim. Skilled bartenders can serve up to 280 mugs from a single 200-litre barrel, known as a “Hirschen.” Official regulations state that an Oktoberfest mug must hold at least 0.9 litres of beer. The bands play the famous “Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit” up to 80 times daily; although written by a Saxon, it resonates with Bavarian hosts, as each toast signals the pouring of three to four hectolitres of beer, totaling 280 hectolitres or 28,000 litres per tent each day. The book explores all facets of the Oktoberfest, including showmen, traditional amusement rides, breweries, and the history and operation of the iconic beer tents. It offers readers an engaging tour of a vibrant world that, although it exists for just 14 days each autumn, leaves a lasting impression throughout the year.
