Analyse und Simulation von Geschäftsmodellen für Elektrizitätsvertriebsunternehmen

En savoir plus sur le livre

More than six hundred power distributors in Germany must adapt their business models due to the "Energiewende." A key challenge is aligning domestic power consumption with the fluctuating generation of renewable energies through smart meters. This dissertation assesses options for implementing smart meters within existing business models, contributing to the field of business model research. While numerous definitions exist, validated methods for analyzing business models are scarce. This research proposes a structured approach for evaluating business models in mature industries, featuring a simulation to enhance the modeling concept. A procedure is developed to reflect wholesale power prices and the impact of renewable energies on power demands. The study introduces a new method for modeling load shifts, focusing on consumer habits and dynamic preferences rather than minimal price elasticity. Various scenarios for smart meter implementation are examined, revealing a mismatch between value drivers and customer preferences. Although dynamic pricing and automation can increase potential profits, customers often view these negatively. Additionally, simulation results indicate that minimal savings in wholesale costs can lead to significant reductions in grid usage. Ultimately, the findings suggest that static time-of-use pricing will not yield savings in the wholesale market going forward.
