Too big to fail and structural reforms

En savoir plus sur le livre

So-called structural reforms and concepts of corporate separateness are a key element of the regulatory reactions to too-big-to-fail worldwide. In contrast to other European countries, these issues received scarce attention in Switzerland and the debate about them remained on a very general level. This is an apparent contradiction to the fact that structural and organizational measures are also a decisive factor in the Swiss emergency planning concept. Against this background, this University of Zurich thesis ventures out to analyze the economic and legal framework for structural measures and to compare the already adopted Swiss concept with the UK regime which is yet in the legislative process. The thesis sets a focus on a critical analysis of the Swiss solution and provides food for thought about its further implementation.
