En savoir plus sur le livre

The first photo of a young woman in a box was taken in 2004, with most images captured between 2009 and now. The concept of posing nudes in boxes isn't new, but the contrast between the rigid medium-density fibreboard and the fluidity of a woman's body continues to captivate me. I don’t view the women as ‘models’—that term implies a passive role, which doesn’t reflect our dynamic collaboration. These women are artist-performers, often gymnasts or dancers, contributing equally to the creative process. Our collaboration varies; some start with basic poses that we refine together, while others, especially trained dancers, flow through sequences, allowing me to capture fleeting moments. This spontaneous approach can yield beautiful results, though what appears stunning in the moment may not translate well in still images. I find their enthusiasm for the Box intriguing, given its physical demands. While a few may struggle with the concept, most embrace the challenge, reminiscent of playground adventures. I admire their grace and creativity, as I lack the ability to invert myself. Their fortitude inspires my work, making each session a unique exploration of form and movement.
