En savoir plus sur le livre

Geographical location can be relative. Transcarpathia, in the Ukrainian Carpathians, was once seen as the geographical center of Europe during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This region has belonged to various states, representing different edges of Europe. Despite political upheavals, Eastern Transcarpathia has developed a unique local identity, particularly tied to Hutsul culture, while maintaining its natural beauty and richness. The area around Rakhiv has long been associated with the geographical center of Europe, and today, Eastern Transcarpathia stands as a European epicenter of wilderness and indigenous forests. This distinctive characteristic attracts researchers and conservationists globally, especially the well-preserved forests of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, which serve as a reference point for European forest ecology. In light of the ecological significance of this area, a project was initiated to explore ways to further develop the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. Supported by Ukrainian, German, Austrian, and British institutions, this project has systematically analyzed the region's current and future potential, making strides in strategic management development. The findings aim to enhance area management and stimulate broader engagement. This document serves not as a conclusive treatment of management issues but as an invitation to collaborate, learn, and work towards preserving the unique heritage of Carpath
