Margit Brehm describes Volker Hueller's work as a "Déja-vu experience" that "deceives the senses." This reflects the artist's exploration of painting's fundamental questions since the early twentieth century, particularly the interplay between abstraction and figuration, as well as the treatment of the painting's surface.
