Ch. G. Bardili (1761–1808) established rational realism, his goal being the proof of God‹s existence based on materiality. Known today only as a thinker who was rejected almost unanimously by his contemporaries, his work however does provide an interesting, multifaceted overall concept, stimulating in its radicalism, with its enormous range of scholarly reflection, ethics, history of philosophy and logic. It is the goal of this volume to provide access for the first time to the entire work, to trace the development and content as well as the main features of Bardili‹s whole system, features which are significant for the debates at that time, for example with Fichte, Schelling and Reinhold.
