Munich became the capital of the Nazi movement. From 1931, the Nazi Party made the city its administrative center, and the fuhrer had a private residence in Munich until 1945. The SS was founded in the Bavarian capital, and used it as a base from which they were able to spread terror across the whole of the German Reich.
