En savoir plus sur le livre
How are cultural boundaries created, conceived and experienced? On the public level, the political practices of (sub-)nationalism have been revitalized by contemporary ideologies of multiculturalism providing new rhetorical forms which ultimately deny the legitimacy of indeterminacy. Yet, on the private level, the creation of new intersubjectivities is a normal consequence of movement, mixing, and living together, resulting in novel repertoires of individual and collective experiences. This book seeks to connect both the public and the private within the same frame of analysis. Cover illustration: Poplars on the Epte, Claude Monet (1840 - 1926). Photograph (c) Tate, London 2004
